Nike is making a reality out of Back to the Future movie. In the said movie, Marty McFly unveiled his famous footwear the Air Mags “with power laces” that self-tied at the push of a button - which saved him precious time before entering the DeLorean time machine vehicle.

In the film, Marty McFly said the shoes were from 2015. And it turns out he's right as the Air Mags will be released again next year and this time it will come with powerlaces.

Just a recap. In 2011, Nike unveiled the Nike Air Mag, a replica of the sneaker used in the movie. However. this high top skate shoe with illuminating lights just like in the film, was devoid of the popular self-tying feature. Luckily, that is about to change :)

While hoverboards have not been made available to the public (still in the works), the airmags had been 3 years ago (A pair of Nike limited edition sneakers are auctioned off at the Nike MAG Berlin auction at the Delight Studios on September 17, 2011 in Berlin, Germany) and will be available again next year with an upgrade - with powerlaces.

It will be called the Nike Air Mag 2015 - a rechargeable futuristic skate shoe from the brand, that's designed as an identical replica to the originals seen in the Back to the Future II movie. Some of the constant elements of the skate shoe include the upper contours, the glowing LED panel and the electroluminescent Nike logo in the strap. What's cool about this is that it actually illuminates with the pinch of the “ear” of the high top, glowing for five hours per charge. What's more is that since it's going to come with powerlaces - first ever self-tying shoe laces.

What are your preliminary thoughts on the Nike Air Mag 2015?
