The Vans and Independent collaboration was established naturally as both brands carry and a long and rich history in skateboarding. Vans delivered the first skate-specific shoe at a time when skaters began to take advantage of Vans’ sticky rubber gum outsole and the custom approach to footwear. Since the early days of the skateboarding scene, Independent Trucks have provided the functional equipment that skaters still rely on to this day. As two original manufacturers in skateboarding, Vans and Independent Truck Company share roots in California and a heritage deeply rooted in the early days of skating’s genesis. Hailing from Santa Cruz, Independent has provided skateboarding hardgoods since the late 70’s, and it's safe to say that there are far fewer skaters today that don’t ride Indy trucks than those who do.
To celebrate past and present, Vans x Independent presents a signature Crockett Pro featuring a suede and twill upper, UltraCush HD for high impact cushioning, Duracap™ fused rubber reinforced toe vamp underlays, and a Vans Wafflecup™ construction, the first-ever vulcanized cupsole for responsive support and increased stability. The Vans x Independent Mirada comes as a low top silhouette with premium textile upper, a comfortable and anatomically contoured UltraCush footbed, molded heel pocket inserts, a Pro Cup construction for responsiveness and support, and Vans original Waffle Outsole. T-shirts and long-sleeves in men’s and boys’ sizes, a sweatshirt and two hats highlighting iconic Vans x Independent logo designs and an exclusive black and white photograph of shared team rider Gilbert Crockett complete the package. ~$65.
