December 2015

2016 seems to be a promising year for Air Jordan Retros. Why do we say so? Well, the Air Jordan 1 'Banned' is coming back according to J23app. This sneaker is going to be released on September 3, 2016, for $160.

Recent reports suggested that the Air Jordan 1 "Bred" colorway would get a "Remastered" release next year, and now it's looking like that'll be on "Banned" edition. Those who were lucky enough to cop these bad boys four years ago know that this was already a premium sneaker, so it will be interesting to see what Jordan Brand does to make it even better.

Nike SB’s rollout of skate shoes has been nothing less than impressive as of late, and their latest is this Nike SB Dunk Low Pro “IW” model. IW stands for Ishod Wair, the former skater of the year who's the newest member of Nike’s SB division. This silhouette ditches the bigger tongue for a more traditional look along with a black dominated upper. Moreover, you’ll find Light Graphite detailing throughout that’s complemented with grip tape hints as well along with a white midsole. Wait what, are these Griptape Lows?

Check out this upcoming “Year of the Sheep” Collection from Vans, which will inevitably end your year right. It's the brand's vibrant Chinese New Year three-pack. These sneakers have been designed with the theme of ‘Monkey Rules’ and draw inspiration from China’s commemorative stamps of 1980, 1992 and 2004. There's a Sk8-Hi Reissue with a tonal red suede upper, a black liner and white sole. A pink Sk8-Hi Slim with yellow accents. And finally, a multicolored suede Half-Cab, all with premium materials. The “Year of the Monkey” Collection will be available at select Vans retailers around the globe starting December 28.  All are pretty flame worthy, eh?

The elephant print is forever tied to Jordan Brand. Before the year ends, the Air Jordan 1 model will receive the distinctive crackle treatment. Clearly reminiscent of the legendary Supreme x Nike SB collaboration lows from 2002, this shoe has nearly identical color blocking as the black Dunk model, with grey elephant print overlays set atop a smooth black leather base and tonal black Swoosh. I guess the only thing's missing is the red innards. Anyway, this is scheduled to release in January 2016. $140.

There has been no shortage of hype beasts extolling the virtues of Adidas' Boost technology, and now even skate shoe lovers can partake in its cloud-like cushioning capabilities too.

Adidas Skateboarding introduces the Busenitz Pure Boost. Just so you know, it's not Palace, it's not worn by Kanye, so it might not sell out like hotcakes (which is a good thing for us, right?). It features a black, unstructured suede and leather upper with a Boost midsole extending the full length of the shoe. $130.

The Adidas skate shoe named after skate legend Dennis Busenitz enters its 13th season this year and its continuing popularity shows no signs of slowing down. Following the debut of its limited edition “Scheinfeld” model, the brand introduces a brand new colorway. It employs an overall simple design with slight hits of cement print that is accented with black paint splatter detailing. The white textured midsole is complemented by a like-colored heel tab, as well as unmistakable Three Stripes branding on the sides. Moreover, the tongue is rendered with an embossed striped element that is contrasted by classic flat laces. $80.

Nike Brings Michael Jordan and Paul Rodriguez Together Again

Remember the Nike SB "J-Rod" 1s? Well, it looks like it's set for a comeback. These sneakers is a fusion between the Nike SB P-Rod and Jordan Brand, featuring elephant print wrapping the upper, along with Jumpman logos on the back end.

Nike has not mentioned a release date in the U.S. yet for these, but Nikestore Europe will launch them on Dec. 12.

A leaked release info hints that the "Bred" Air Jordan 1 is coming back in 2016, complete with the Retro High OG build and the "Nike Air" branding.

Next year's return of this much-loved shoe will be the first since Jordan Brand introduced the remastered program. This means that the shape should set this forthcoming pair apart from previous retro releases. The sources on this one are leaker @baltsneakershow, who posted the style info of the shoe. See the image of a supposed style sheet listing the shoe below:

Heads up: No images of the remastered "Bred" Jordan 1 for 2016 in the iconic "Banned" colorway exist yet. The featured photo is of the 2013 version of the shoe.

A$AP Ferg has collaborated with Adidas Originals to give the Adi-Ease skateboarding silhouette a new look. It's called the "TrapLord," a more low-key offering that's available in black or cream base.

It comes with crosses covering the whole upper that features gold hardware and Ferg’s ‘Hood Pope’ nickname written across the heel and the A$AP crew’s namesake scrawled across the Three Stripes across the side.

Both shoes are tied together with laces that feature Ferg’s lyrics, making this a must-have for any A$AP Mob fans.

Pay homage to the Hood Pope come December 5th at Adidas Skateboarding accounts worldwide.

"Just sharing: To all Kobe fans out there, a couple of days ago, I sketched a concept shoe combining all of Kobe's Nike signature models (posted it again for comparison). But we shouldn't forget the beast in the afro, his glory days sporting the three stripes. I combined all of Kobe's Adidas models in 1 shoe, from the Adidas Top Ten 2000 to the infamous Kobe Two. I dub it the "Afro Deity". Here are the parts coming from each model:

Top Ten 2000 - Strap flap with Adidas Equipment logo
Top Ten 2010 - toe design & toe outsole
EQT Elevation (Crazy 97 retro) - circle with #8 and upper base design
KB8 (Crazy 8 retro) - Heel midsole and outsole
KB8 II (Crazy 2 retro) - Middle midsole with clear window
KB8 III - Three stripes and lace holes
Kobe 1 - Heel counter support
Kobe 2 - Tongue, Inner bootie and ankle collar
Hope you like it and let's cherish Kobe's last season!"

Kango Express

Using a third party courier like Kango Express is one of the best ways to ship U.S./U.K. shopping items to the Philippines.  They can help you save both time and money and prevent yourself from dealing with the Philippine Customs (if your package gets held by them for some reason).

What is Kango Express?

Kango Express is an online shopping lifesaver. Their service is pretty straightforward: you order something online (US or UK merchants) and have it shipped to your virtual shipping address, and they send your package to the Philippines. You can then pick up your package in their office, or have it shipped it to your doorsteps.

Similar services are Johnny Air Cargo, LBC Shipping Cart, POBOX.Ph, MyShoppingBox, FRS, Borderlinx, etc.

Okay! The first thing we need to do is to sign-up for an account with Kango Express. I just did mine online, here’s their website: kangoexpress.com.

For inquiries, you can get in touch with them via this link.

Alright, after creating a Kango Express account,  you’re ready to shop! In this scenario, we will be shopping at Amazon.com.  Here's a step by step run-through, using my most recent order as an example:

1. First, place your order online. You need to have a credit card, gift card, or PayPal account to do so. Take note, there are some merchants that do not accept international credit cards or do not accept orders from a foreign IP address. If this is the case, Kango Express offers a service where they can buy the item for you, but this will entail additional service fees, however.

When you check out from Amazon or the website, you are ordering from, you need to use your virtual address (you will get this upon registering an account with Kango Express):

Unlike other package forwarding service providers, you don't need to do something extra to process your order and have your item shipped to the Philippines via Kango Express. No need to send the email confirmation, no need to contact support, less hassle, and it's easy as waving a magician's magic wand.

2. After your Amazon shopping is complete, you just need to wait for a few days, as Kango Express will notify once your package has arrived at their warehouse.

You will see an email notification like this, telling you to schedule the delivery of your package to your address or to their office (just in case you prefer to pick it up at their office).

In the “My Packages” section, you will see the tracking number, actual weight, fees you need to pay, and the status of your shipment. To schedule your package for dispatch, you just need to specify your preferred date of delivery.

You will get another notification upon arrival, and you have to pay the fees so that it will be delivered to your doorsteps.

3. Finally, wait for your package to arrive at your doorsteps! Turnaround time (the date when they receive the package in their US/UK address and the date it arrives in the Philippines, for pick-up or shipped to your address) is normally 5 to 7 business days.

For this particular order, the package was received in the warehouse on November 24th. I was able to retrieve the package in this condition, on November 29th:

I paid only the minimum amount of $19 for this order, around P800.00. The item I ordered reached me safe and sound:

That’s how it simply works! It’s always exciting to see what’s inside that box from the States. I recently purchased a New Era cap from Amazon.com. It only took 11 days to arrive from the U.S. to the Philippines. Everything from shipping only cost me around 800Php. Not bad for international shipping, right?

Yeah, you can have your item shipped to the Philippines without availing their service, but you have to shoulder the shipping cost and taxes. Moreover, you have to wait for days for it to arrive. You have to be worry about the customs duties, fees, and if your items will ever reach you at all (does anyone trust our local postage system?).

Maybe you're wondering why I bought New Era from the states whereas I can buy them here locally. Well, it's just that Kango gave me an Amazon gift card, and 50$ shipping credit when I attended their press event a month ago. And since, I have no money yet to purchase skate shoes and the gift card is about to expire, I opted to buy the cap :).

Hopefully, you’ll receive your package in no time! Also, Kango Express offers 20% discount to new customers on their first shipment! Visit www.kangoexpress.com now! If you have any questions, please leave your comments below. And what are you waiting for? Go to Amazon.com right now and start shopping!

(Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Kango Express in any way. I am only sharing my experience with this service because it has worked well for me so far, and I haven't had any bad experience with this service at all.)
