Holiday 2016

Just in case you missed the 50th-anniversary classics release back in March, don't fret because Vans is set to release a new set of 50th-anniversary shoes.

Christian Hosoi combined raw power, style, and a larger-than-life persona in this double checkerboard Sk8-Hi Pro ’83 that recreates an iconic early colorway of the Sk8-Hi that came to be known as the quintessential skate shoe of the ’80s.

Also, Eddie Fiola, a famous BMX rider's Era Pro ’83 goes retro in red, white and blue —just like Eddie wore in his famous Vans ad.

Dennis McCoy's Sk8-Hi Pro ’86 has been retroed as well, featuring its most iconic colorway from the ’80s

From the Santa Cruz team in the ’80s to Black Label in the ’90s and AntiHero today, Jeff Grosso bleeds skateboarding. Jeff’s custom black & white two-tone Sk8-Hi is reproduced with modernized Pro construction as the Sk8-Hi Pro ’87.

All of these models will feature extensive update for tech and comfort including the new one-piece DuraCap toe bumpers and UltraCush HD insoles.

The Vans 50th Anniversary Pro Classics - Wave 2 collection is now available from the BLENDS brother core-skate shop BTNC. Check your local Vans stockists for availability. The pairs will set you back $70 for the Era Pro '83 and $75 for each Sk8 Hi.

Supreme has collaborated with Vans for the second time this year. This time, they chose Old Skool Pro as their silhouette. Supreme went with a cotton bouclé upper on the sidewalls which creates a terry like texture.

The materials used on the jazz stripe is a mirror-like iridescent fabric which gives a reflective shine. Available in blue, orange, white, and black.

The Supreme x Vans Old Skool Pro 'Iridescent' will be available exclusively at Supreme in-store in NY, LA, London, and Paris as well as on-line this Thursday, May 26th.  Available in Japan on May 29th.

The checkerboard slip-on is selling like hotcakes these days. Have you evered wonder why it has become one of the most recognized of all the Vans styles? How did they come about?

In the late seventies, it has become popular. Kids were taking the side profile off the shoe, where the white rubber was, and coloring it in checkerboard. So Vans decided to start making rubber with the checks on it and eventually made some canvas. Right at the same the brand had a PR lady named Betty Mitchell and Universal Studio’s asked her for some shoes. So she sent a whole lot of checkerboard shoes for the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Vans had no idea.

The crew liked them so much and they ended up on the album cover and then Sean Penn, or Jeff Spicoli in the movie, was hitting him self over the head with the shoes in the movie. Then it became a huge hit just like that. Vans has sold millions of checkerboards.

Here's my entry:

Inspired by the coffee company Starbucks, comes the Nike SB Dunk Low “Starbucks” colorway set to release at Nike SB retailers this month.

The special take is a nod to the Seattle coffee company and it features a brown, white and green color combo inspired by the brand's color theme and coffee beans. Look out for the SB Dunk to release at Nike SB retailers across the globe like Rock City Kicks for $100.

2013's fan-favorite "Digi Floral" release is making a comeback.

The “Digi Floral” edition of the Zoom Stefan Janoski has long been one of (if not the) most coveted Janoski pair since the silhouette made its debut. And if you missed out on these skate shoes when they dropped three years ago, don't fret: Nike SB is apparently bringing them back. Over the weekend, Nike Japan added the shoe to its launch calendar, so hopefully that means it’ll make its way to additional markets in the near future.

If you’re in Japan, look for the shoe to hit SB dealers May 23. And if you’re not fortunate enough to be in Japan come launch day, stay tuned for further release developments.

Blends just announced their next collaboration project with Vans Vault to recreate the classic Sk8-Hi model once again with their fifth installment of the 'Bone Jazz-Stripe' series. A close similarity to the original model that released three years ago, these feature a rich dark-blue ‘Peacoat’ premium leather upper with a modest balance of black detailing found throughout the shoe, from the heel zipper, the midsole foxing, the flat waxed shoe strings, and "Bone" shaped Jazz-Stripe atop Vans’ iconic waffle sole performance technology.

The ‘Peacoat’ Blends x Vans Vault Sk8-Hi Reissue Zip LX will be available this Saturday, May 7th, at Blendsus.com (9 AM PST) and at all Blends locations on a first come first serve basis.

Vans and Nintendo has teamed up for a nostalgic pack featuring some of our favorite and memorable video game franchises. A total of 6 Low’s and 2 SK8 Hi’s will be displaying graphics from the OG Video Game era including Donkey Kong, the OG Nes controller, Duck Hunt, Princess Peach, Donkey Kong and a few others. Look for the Vans x Nintendo Pack at your local Vans retailer or cop them overseas at 43einhalb.
