Despite the growing community of skateboarders here in the Philippines, skateboarding still carries a stigma, as many still consider skateboarders as some sort of rebels (worse: dugyots LOL)
Skateboarders here in our country have to resort to streets as they don't have a lot of options when it comes to skating areas. As such, they skate at night, when the streets are empty. Some set up their skating "ramps" and/or grind rails in abandoned areas. While there some who dare to skate in places that don't really allow skateboarding such as promenades and sidewalks.
As of this writing, there are still no laws or regulations on skateboarding in our country. In contrast, countries like in the U.S. or U.K. have lots of skate parks, as well as skateboarding laws that require skaters to wear protective equipment.
