The D3 line of skate shoes has earned a reputation as one of the most popular and successful in the industry. Since its debut in 1999, the various D3 models have sold millions of units at retail stores. The D3 exemplifies Osiris' innovative design approach and creative vision, serving as an early testament to the brand's ability to set trends within the broader footwear market. This year, the black/gum colorway has been re-released and is now available for only $119.

The Story of the Osiris D3 2001

In 1996, Osiris, a skateboard brand, was founded in California by Swedish skater Tony Magnusson, Brian Reid, Tony Chen and Doug Weston.

The OG D3 came into existence, when Dave Mayhew aka the technician, needed his 3rd Osiris shoe.

It's called D3 since it's Dave's 3rd skate shoes from Osiris.

There's 3 people involved with the creation of the D3

  • Brian Reid - Designer
  • Tony Magnusson - Developer / President of Osiris
  • Dave Mayhew - Endorser

In 1999, the OG Osiris D3 was released for $149.95, but it's not actually a successful launch - just lukewarm sales.

In 2001, Reid, together with Tony Magnusson released the updated version and named it D3 2001.

Osiris Shoes is a skateboarding shoe company founded in 1996. The company was established by Tony Chen and a group of professional skateboarders, with the goal of creating high-quality skate shoes that could withstand the rigors of the sport.

Osiris shoes are known for their unique designs and colors, often featuring bold patterns and graphics. The company has also collaborated with a number of artists and musicians to create limited edition shoes.

In addition to skate shoes, Osiris also produces a range of casual shoes and sandals. The company has a strong presence in the skateboarding and alternative sports communities, sponsoring a number of professional skateboarders and BMX riders.

This time around, The Hundreds and Osiris, 2 OGs in the game, brought the shoes as true to the original as possible, but with some minor touches afforded by the collaboration. Seen from the image above, The Hundreds X Osiris D3 2001 will feature a mostly-black upper, but its large-ring eyelets will be adorned by a textured tonal graphic print. Man! This Osiris Clone Huit Samurai Red is totally rad! I mean if you're into samurai stuff and movies, this is the way to let everybody you meet know it. The shoes look even better in person and the fit is great.

The colors are really strong and they pop! Osiris shoes are always stylish, with or without laces, and these shoes are no exception. These shoes are super comfortable and really go well with almost any outfit. They also have pretty good ankle support and feel snug. The material also looks and feels durable. $65.

Osiris Protocol is one of the most comfortable shoes I ever tried on. I beat them to death. They look nice with jeans and go great with anything. They fit perfectly, amazing shape all throughout the toe area, very light, and they look way better in person!

Osiris Protocol Features

  • Osiris Protocol guys low-profile skate shoe.
  • Black, white, and gum colorway.
  • Synthetic nubuck and mesh upper for durability.
  • Double stitched toe cap and reinforced abrasion areas.
  • Padded tongue and collar for comfort.
  • Combination lacing system for fit.
  • VLKN cupsole construction.
  • EVA drop in midsole with heel insert for impact resistance.
  • Dual density blown PU RX insole with full latex covering.
  • Durable rubber outsole for grip and durability.

Excellent shoes, I've got NOTHING but compliments. Although Osiris shoes are known for skateboarding, please do not use these for skateboarding. They will probably not last too long. The back of the sole wear down quick. After 5 months of daily use, they were down quick. Regardless, I have 2 extra pairs because I love them so much. $33-$56.
