Vans has a long history, with shoes that have been around for many years. And in celebration of the Half Cab's 30th birthday, Vans has released the Skate Half Cab '92, a homage to the shoe's rich history. In 1992, skaters formed the Half Cab by cutting down high tops using only scissors and duct tape.
The Skate Half Cab ’92, on the other hand, is designed for a more mass-appeal audience. Though it lacks the DIY flare of these creations, the Skate Half Cab '92 is still made with skateboard enthusiasts in mind. There are several premium touches throughout, ensuring a greater overall experience. The toe cap and ollie patch have been split apart for a more modern appearance, too.
Apart from the lightweight and flexible DURACAP underlay, you can expect the Skate Half Cab '92 to offer a more secure fit due to the molded counter, locked-in tongue strap, and heel hold that complement its flexibility. The toe of the bottom has a heavier knurl texture than usual, as seen below in SickStick gum and famed PopCush footbeds. Dress Blues and Taupe are now available; the Skate Half Cab 1992 retails for $75 USD. If you'd like to get a pair, go to Vans.com.
