Nike SB X Concepts Orange Lobster Dunk Low Exclusive Special Package

The latest edition of the Lobster Series, Concepts elevate and bridge the gap between art, fashion, luxury, and unconventional creativity taking visual queues from the surrealist painter, Salvador Dali. Our exclusive special packaging is complete with a custom box featuring Dali’s famous ‘Lobster Telephone,’ circa 1938. A classic example of surrealism, Dali believed that combining two unrelated objects could reveal the secret desires of the unconscious.⁠

⁠In the same overarching theme, Concepts and MEDICOM TOY collaborate for the first time with an orange all-over lobster speckle BE@RBRICK set arriving in 100% and 400% figures. After the long wait, Nike SB X Concepts Collaboration saw its first official stateside release - it's today actually!

Now today, fans have been blessed with an opportunity to buy the shoes in-store (9AM EST) at Concepts Cambridge and New York and online at 11 AM EST.

Flash forward to 11 AM.

Unfortunately, according to reports, the Nike SB X Concepts Green Lobster Dunk Low amazingly sold out in under 5 minutes.

UPDATE: It looks like it was sold out even before it went live on their site :)

Just today, I saw an Instagram post by the creative director of CNCPTS, Deon Point about a possible insane Green SB Lobster giveaway. Don't get your hopes up just yet because the lucky recipients will probably be their long-time supporters and friends :)

It's been days really trying to get this Purple Lobsters. CNCPTs, L. Tactics, L. SPoT, L. Extra Butter, L. Consortium, L. SNKRS, L.

Hoping they restock or at least I get lucky on the Green Lobsters.

BTW, why are they called lobsters?

It originally started in 2008 when Concepts created the Nike SB Red lobster. They’re a Boston based company and they wanted to honor the local trade (crabbing) and so they decided to do a speckled upper (like crab shells) and they did bands around the toebox like you would see on a caught lobster. A year later they released the Nike SB Blue Lobster, and of course, there’s the hyper-strike f&f yellow lobster. The purple is a combo of both the red and blue. While the green is a combo of yellow and blue.

What’s the story behind the band around the Nike SB Lobsters toe?

Lobster claws get banded up when that lobster is destined to be dinner.

The "Green Lobster" Concepts x Nike SB Dunk Low received a surprise drop last Friday morning at the Shanghai release of the collaboration. Concepts creative director Deon Point also shared an on-foot look at the limited pair complete with a vibrant set of pink laces. This exclusive colorway has already been spotted on Concepts’ creative director, Deon Point, and Travis Scott, who flaunted his pair in a now-deleted post on his Instagram Stories.

No one cared until Travis Scott wore dunks, now kids are crazy about them. I have been into Dunks since 2011 and seeing today’s response both made me happy and tremendously salty at the same time :)


Key Features: The Green Lobster Dunk Pro features the model’s original tooling and Nike SB detailing on the padded tongue. A metallic Swoosh, metallic speckle detailing on the upper, a picnic sock liner, and rubber bands complete the lobster-themed look. Each sneaker also comes with three sets of laces, two sets of lobster claw rubber bands, and a specially designed Concepts box.

There are also rumors that the “Green Lobster” is to be released this Friday, but that has yet to be confirmed by both Concepts and Nike SB. For now, the limited colorway is available on eBay for $4,500 and StockX at select sizes with an average sale price of $1,650.

Yeah, shoe stores get shoes a week in advance or even earlier than release date sometimes. So, if you have a hookup, you can get them very early.

On hyped shoes there's also a round of F&F pairs being sent out by the company's marketing team, to get the popular influencers to show off before the official release date and get everyone hyped.

I guess, it's not surprising at all to see these Purple Lobsters on eBay a few days prior to its release. If you want to have them now, you need to shell out $350 :)

Since 2008, CONCEPTS x Nike SB collaborations have been lauded by the sneaker community. The iconic partnership began with the launch of the now famous Red Lobster SB Dunk, followed by an equally sought after Blue Lobster one year later. CONCEPTS’ Creative Director, Deon Point, is honoring the originals with this commemorative release: “What Nike SB did in the beginning still resonates with our current consumer. We felt compelled to pay homage to a defining moment for our brand. Mixing the color palettes of the red and blue versions seemed like an appropriate way to do that, without tarnishing the legacy of the original versions.”

CONCEPTS remains authentic to key design features of the original 2008 Red Lobster Release. Deon Point explains why: “In terms of classics, the Dunk is amongst the elites. The OG SB in particular, has a devout following, so we opted for the original tooling. We even forewent CONCEPTS branding on the padded tongue, staying true to our first collaboration. I think the details separate it from the rest. The metallic swoosh, metallic speckle, picnic lining, and rubber brands, have all become iconic over the years.”

CONCEPTS’ deep-rooted storytelling approach to collaboration puts them in a league of their own within the industry: “Going above and beyond has always been our approach to any collaboration,” Deon Point continues. “I still view every project with the same enthusiasm we did ten years ago. While we pride ourselves on storytelling, we prefer to do so with a luxury inspiration. That mindset all started with the Lobster for us while most assumed it was just based on seafood.”

Design features in the limited-edition CONCEPTS x Nike SB Dunk Low Pro OG QS (Voltage Purple/Voltage Purple) include:
Classic Nike Dunk SB Padded Tongue,
Metallic Swoosh,
Metallic Speckle Printed Uppers,
Picnic Table Print Sockliner,
Three Sets of Shoelaces,
and Two Sets of Lobster Claw Rubber Bands.

With the festive season around the corner, the time’s right for some appropriately-themed limited editions. Case in point: the “Ugly Sweater” Dunk High that marks the second Christmas collaboration between sneaker shop Concepts and Nike SB, and oh boy, does the shoe live up to its name. With a multicolor knit upper, a thousand snowmen and the same number of wrapped presents, it’s a shoe that can’t really be described in words, so take a glance at the release pictures to witness the shoe’s absurdity firsthand. Whoever keeps Nike SB designers from killing themselves can’t possibly be paid enough. We know it’s intentionally ugly, but that’s like saying you’re intentionally going to be waiting in the cold for copping an artistically demanding sneaker. Oh wait, you are. You can buy the Nike SB X Concepts Dunk High TRD QS (Ugly Sweater) both in Bonker's web store and at their shop in Frankfurt from December 7.

Concepts joins Vans for an exclusive trio of collaborative Old Skool colorways. Concepts' take on the classic skate shoe is inspired by a Vintage Jamaican print, featured prominently in the canvas paneling. The pack, which consists of a Green, Off-White, and a special friends and family Orange offering, each have premium suede and a padded tongue, along with the signature Vans waffle outsole. Retail $85, the Concepts x Vans "Jamaica" will be sold in-store Thursday, 4.20.17, followed by an online release at 12pm eastern on Friday, 4.21.17 on cncpts.com

Replicating the beautiful stained glass art found around the world, the Nike SB Dunk High features a custom made stained glass print. The design pulls from techniques and styles over several centuries. Each pair is entirely unique, with no two prints having the stained glass design in exactly the same places.
