Almost 30 years ago, Nike was asked to collaborate on a movie that would feature scenes set in the futuristic world of 2015. The brand was challenged to imagine sneakers that would suit the inhabitants of the advanced era. The innovation team, which regularly looks into a crystal ball of athlete insight and technology to project the future of sport, took that task further.
The resulting Nike Mag reinvented the conventional lacing system, integrating it into an inimitable design that became an enduring beacon of popular culture. As Nike, Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Parker put it, “We started creating something for fiction and we turned it into fact, inventing a new technology that will benefit all athletes.”
Today, Nike delivered a gift to Michael J. Fox introducing the innovation to the shoe’s first, and most celebrated, wearer.
This innovation advances what was coined the Nike Mag’s “power laces,” combining the archetype invention with digital technology. The result is an individually responsive system that senses the wearer’s motion to provide adaptive on-demand comfort and support. But this is just the first iteration.
Nike continues to test this technology across multiple sports, incorporating feedback into future game-changing footwear with unprecedented performance features that have the potential to impact athletes around the world.
“By imagining the future, we create it. Product that comes alive, with on-demand comfort and support when you need, product that senses you and adapts to you is right around the corner,” added Parker.
Availability
The 2015 Nike Mag is a limited edition release. It will only be available via auction, with all proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. The specific details on the auctions will be posted to Nike News and via Twitter @Nike in spring 2016.

The "Cornucopia" is a symbol of abundance also known as a large horn-shaped container overflowing with produce, flowers or nuts. This is apparently the inspiration for this latest Nike SB Dunk High. Made in a tonal brown upper, it features layers of suede complimented by woven panelling that creates a pretty spot-on correlation from the backstory to the visual endgame. Now available at select Swoosh accounts.

Can’t get enough of the sleek looking Nike SB Stefan Janoski shoes? Are you looking for a skate shoe that comes with a little oomph? If the answer to both is yes, then you might want to check this brand new colorway that gives the shoe a bit of pizazz. The Nike SB Stefan Janoski “Gold Foil” is done up in a metallic gold covered upper, giving it a very glimmering look. Attempting to offset that shine is the black piping and the black found in the Swoosh, lining, laces and eyelets. Just like any other Janos, there's a white sole unit that balances things out a bit. TBA.

Steven Alan designers have teamed up with Vault to produce a fresh looking Sk8 Hi and Style 36 LX OG with a material we don't see in use too much these days: corduroy. Sidewalls of both models are draped in a dark blue corduroy while the rest is blocked in a premium black suede. The Sk8 Hi opts for the tonal black midsole while the 36 keeps it white and clean. Dual branding on the sock liners and a custom box finish off the pair.

The Steven Alan x Vans Vault Style 36 and Sk8 Hi LX OG "Corduroy" is available in very limited sizes from StevenAlan.com now but many of them are already gone.

One of the main problems of our artists is that they are not getting enough support from us to sustain their careers in music. Also, communication and collaboration between artists, vendors, and other entrepreneurs in the industry is inefficient.

So far, there's no solid solution yet. But If you’ve got a brilliant idea that you think will encourage young people to come, see, and support live music – especially in non-mainstream genres – then please let us or everyone know.

Alternatively, you can just support local indie bands & communities!  It's actually the least you can do if you wanted to help. Let's all unite and support the local independent ones.
